Tomorrow June 25th it will be celebrated the Seafarer International Day, “Day of the Seafarer”, an opportunity to turn the spotlights on the female and male workers at sea and on the problems of such particularly complex and delicate sector.
The annual Day of the Seafarer, of which this year is its twelfth anniversary, will have as theme at international level “Your travel – at that time and now, share your travel”. A theme dedicated to the travels of the sea workers in light of the evolution of maritime transport in recent years with a focus on today’s reality.
Even we, Fit-Cisl, adhere to this global appeal, by supporting the uncomparable role that these workers perform daily and recognizing the great contribution of these professional workers for the entire sector.
A role, that of the seafarers, which must be enhanced in order to face the future challenges that naval, port and logistical modernization requires, by promoting a continuous and qualified training course, in order to ensure ever greater safety of life on board the ships. The importance of the human factor is central and would give the opportunity to create new job prespectives even for the youngest in a sector not particularly attractive, from this point of view. New perspectives that would make possible to capitalize on the great potentiality of the maritime world, also through the new procedures of digitalization and automation of the job.
There is a need to talk about seafarers not only on the occasion of the International Day of the Seafarer and for this reason we, as Fit, will organize soon a moment of participated discussion on issues concerning seafarers and the difficulties faced by the Italian companies.
